Pataka Trip

We went on a school trip to  Pataka in  Porirua.  We  looked at how things have changed over time. First we had a workshop session where we wrote on slates, got dressed in olden day clothes and did some washing. We also visited the  Porirua Library, where Bea  read us some stories. After lunch in the park we went to the Gallery to see a photo exhibition by Joseph Michael and did an art activity.   It was a very busy day.
Thank you to all the Mums who came  to help us on this trip.

Lunch at the park.
Bea reading the story about the dinosaur.
The teacher is checking the work on the slates.

Washing with sunlight soap and a washboard.

We rinsed the washing  and put it through the wringer.

  1. Wow! this looks like an amazing trip. How cute do they all look in their old fashioned clothes?
These trips are such worthwhile learning experiences. Kate hugged the washing machine when she came home!
